Tutorial Project

May 2021

Following the footsteps of many similar beginners in Blender, my first action was to search up a sufficient tutorial on the legendary resource, YouTube. Thus, I fell upon the Donut Tutorial for Blender 2.8 by the Blender Guru .

This tutorial guided me to familiarize myself with the many features of Blender. It consists of 23 unique videos that each go over an essential element of Blender. While this tutorial is far outdated and has since been replaced by a series for Blender 3.0 and later 4.0, it was still very useful to my learning of Blender's capabilities.

What I Learned

  • Basic 3D modeling and mesh manipulation
  • Working with modifiers (Subdivision Surface, Solidify)
  • Materials and texturing basics
  • Lighting setup and scene composition
  • Rendering and output settings

Level 1: Parts 1-6

The first level covers the fundamentals of Blender's interface and basic modeling techniques. Starting with the default cube (which gets deleted, as is tradition), these lessons introduced mesh editing, proportional editing, and the basics of creating organic shapes.
